Okay this is my last Davis Cup post. We can’t end things without talking a little fashion. The Russian team, as expected, showed up in their white/red Bosco Sport warm-ups. And all the guys just wore kits from their sponsors. Everyone stayed white except for Dmitry Tursunov (in bright red Fila) and Mikhail Youzhny (in adidas). And the one mishit was James Blake‘s Nike sweatband. It looked too busy with his Global Power tank.
Some photos of the weekend after the cut…
Tursunov had big shoes to fill when Russian coach Shamil Tarpischev tapped him to play the first singles rubber against Andy.
Roddick took care of business in simple white Lacoste.
Youzhny in his hard-fought loss against Blake.
Patrick McEnroe had his reasons to be pumped up.
And Tarpischev was more subdued.
I hope the Bryan Brothers inspire a whole generation of doubles players. But I hope no one tries to mimic their chest bump.
The rare doubles team of Igor Andreev and Nikolay Davydenko made their second Davis Cup appearance. Yep, that picture pretty much explains their whole match. Andreev (in Under Armour) and Kolya (in Airness) wore matching white, much like the team of Youzhny and Tursunov during the DC semis.
Just like me, Andy gets red when he’s drunkies.

Nick, they are adorable. They had quite a moment at the player’s party.
Erwin-
Loved these pictures! Aren’t James and Andy such the cute couple? When are THOSE rumors going to start?!? Hope things are well in sunny Cal.
