Roger Federer urged the Dutch to not be so fussy about Robin Haase‘s cancellation for the Davis Cup match between Switzerland and the Netherlands. Roger Federer went on to say that he fully understood the reasons why Haase canceled and to give him the man a break since he has played for the Dutch Davis Cup team for 10 years straight.

Roger Federer shakes hands with Jesse Huta Galung
Roger Federer faces Jesse Huta Galung on the first day of the Davis Cup. Huta Galung is selected by national coach Jan Siemerink to replace Robin Haase. Haase is trying to improve his ranking by playing regular tournaments. Haase lost in the second round of a Challenger tournament in Szczecin, Poland.
The Swiss are the clear favorites for the Davis Cup meeting and Federer is fully aware of that. He said he was looking forward to playing in front of a home crowd and hoped to see as many fans as possible to support the Davis Cup team.

Roger Federer puts off decision about Davis Cup
Federer did not disclose on whether or not this was his going to be his last performance for the Swiss in the Davis Cup.
“I don’t see this challenge as a farewell. In another scenario, I would have stopped to play Davis Cup in Lille. I played with this thought, but I knew it wouldn’t be so, because of Olympics. It may be that I will continue to play in the Davis Cup, but next year it will certainly be difficult. May be at the end of 2016 or in 2017. There is still time to decide. I understand that I have to give answers, but I don’t know where you play the next challenge. Cilic is in Brazil, Nadal is in Denmark and we are in Geneva, so this time we are lucky. Davis Cup makes everything uncertain and it is not easy to plan.”, said Roger Federer.
Stan Wawrinka’s daughter steals the show
The Swiss had a very special guest during the Swiss practice session. Meet Stan Wawrinka‘s daughter, Alexia. She certainly stole the spotlights from her dad!
