World number one Novak Djokovic has won the 2015 US Open. Djokovic proved too strong and defeated world number two Roger Federer in four sets: 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. By winning the 2015 US Open, Djokovic now has won the title two times in his career and the win marks his 10th Grand Slam title. Roger Federer hoped to win his 18th Grand Slam title.

“Now actually sitting down here with this trophy and reflecting on what I have achieved, it’s quite incredible. So I’m definitely very satisfied and proud of that,” said Djokovic in his press conference. “We pushed each other to the limit, as we always do. It’s an ultimate challenge that I can have now winning against Roger back to back finals in Wimbledon and here, US Open. It’s tremendous. I’m really, really proud of it.”

Roger Federer is impressed by Novak Djokovic he said after the match, that was plagued by rain delays:
“I think he’s playing very well. He’s having a wonderful season, like in 2011. He’s just really consistent. Seems like there are not many guys that can hang with him. He’s perfected his game on the hard courts, no doubt about it. It’s very impressive. He’s having unbelievable career. Tonight is another example of that. Clearly he can win many of them. He already has a ton (and) you would think he will win more after tonight.”

2015 US Open makes history with first female chair umpire
Veteran Chair Umpire Eva Asderaki-Moore, of Greece, made history on Sunday as the first female to serve as chair umpire of the men’s singles final at the US Open.
The US Open is also the first Grand Slam to feature a female chair umpire for both the women’s and men’s singles final in the same year, after Croatian Marija Cicak chaired Saturday’s women’s final.
