Extra week off

Federer said he was happy with the extra week between Roland Garros and Wimbledon. He has been saying for ages that that is what players need. You won’t see the results straightaway but years to come you will see that players will perform better on the grass courts.

If all goes to plan then Federer can be the first player to hold eight Wimbledon titles but the man himself said it does not occupy his mind. And that that all by itself is not an extra motivation to win the title. Simply because Wimbledon is massive and so beautiful. That alone keeps him going.

Next up for Federer is Roberto Bautista-Agut. Agut defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili: 7-6, 6-0, 6-1.

Fun fact: Sam Groth hit a 236 km/h serve and came close to the all time Wimbledon record of 238 km/h.
