Was it our fault? Man, can we stop and reflect for a second? All this talk about Roger Federer‘s underperformance is based on a record that has him through to four semis and two finals in six tries; one of those finals is at tomorrow’s Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open showdown between him and Rafael Nadal.

This is the first time the World No. 1 and Federer are facing each other since that epic Aussie Open final. To get there, Federer easily beat Juan Martin del Potro 6-3, 6-4. Nadal had a significantly harder time because of his bum right knee, brusing aside Nole Djokovic 3-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (9) in four hours and three minutes — the longest match in Masters Series history.

Opponent’s chronic injury a-flaring + auto-peptalk = possible Madrid title for Roger? We’ll find out tomorrow!
